About the Opportunity
Jacobs are recruiting for a motivated Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join our growing team on site.
Our teams support this key client in nuclear generation across their fleet in the UK. You will be working as part of an embedded team on site in Heysham, Lancashire and will support the diverse portfolio of projects and programmes with them. As a Project Engineer you will have a Mechanical bias and ideally have a working knowledge of controls and instrumentation – but this is not essential.
As a Project Engineer with us you will be using your communication and organisational skills to deliver your work, this will be within the Fuel Route Team and again, experience in this would be advantageous but not essential.
On site you will report to a station Project Manager who will also work with you to allocate your work within this role.
You will have a mentor who will support your development within the role as well as training and peer support.
Within the team on site is your Jacobs Line Manager who will be on hand for any Jacobs questions or queries as well as client ones too.
This role is based on site but there may be the need for occasional business travel which will be agreed with you in advance.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
We’d like you to be a Chartered Engineer or HND Plus with extensive experience in Mechanical engineering disciplines.
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualified is also desirable.
You will have experience of identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures
and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
You will manage technical queries and prepare and maintain engineering documentation including quality plans and technical specifications in support of
the process of contractor selection and contract placement. You will then conduct technical reviews of contractor's documents and drawings.
Executing feasibility studies and site surveys then liaising with designers and station engineering staff is required.
Candidates that hold the APMP formal project management qualification or equivalent and versed in modern project management techniques, are preferred but it is not essential.
Good understanding of equipment reliability.
Experience in full lifecycle of a project.
