Jacobs Geotechnical Engineer in Morristown, New Jersey
We have a great opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our New York, New Jersey offices and be part of the Geotechnical Group for the Northeast region. As an entry to mid-level Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to follow projects from concept through construction, working on current and upcoming design-bid-build and design-build projects in highways, rail, water, environmental, ports, and advanced facilities sectors. By joining our practice you’ll be responsible for leading geotechnical aspects associated with the design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, and slope stabilizing measures. You will also be responsible for coordination and generation of geotechnical-based specifications and preparation of data, baseline, and interpretative reports.
Skills that are required to serve in this role include, but not necessarily limited to, knowledge and experience in the following areas:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Extensive experience with exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing of soil and rock
Knowledge of the process to design shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and slope improvement
Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications
Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses, such as SLIDE, SETTLE3D, LPILE, APILE, Shaft, FB Multipier, Mathcad, DeepEx, and GRLWEAP
BS in Civil or Geological Engineering
MS with concentration in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred)
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
