Jacobs Civil Engineer Professional Entry Level in New York, New York

Conducting systems modeling for rail and track projects using the OpenTrack software. Carrying out interlocking system analysis, calculating headway speeds and guaranteed emergency brake rates for track analysis. Preparing track design layout drawings for mega railway projects, using Bentley OpenRoads. Preparing on-site inspection check lists for structural and architectural components in rail projects, using MS Excel. Preparing and marking up station maps for train stations to be used for site inspections, using Bluebeam Revu. Preparing site drawings on AutoCAD, in close coordination with the electrical, mechanical, structural and architectural teams. Conducting on-site assessments and evaluation of train facilities, using Lidar 3D scanning and site and yard imagery. Conducting on-site train station inspections and overseeing contractors’ work. Coordinating with clients, stakeholders and real estate teams regarding right-of-way easements and imminent domains, for mega rail projects. Preparing easement maps on Microstation, using the northings, eastings, segment lengths and chord lengths provided by the surveying team. Engaging with geospatial subcontractors to finalize easement maps and eminent domain maps. Providing civil engineering support for project scopes, such as creating cross-sections for different track sections on OpenRoads. Creating Bluebeam Studio sessions during the Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QAQC) phase of projects. Supporting the corporate business unit within Major Programs. Supporting data analysis using PowerBI for the creating the Major Programs strategy for Americas East. Supporting program initiation during the bid submission process for major programs. Supporting the Program Management team with organizing weekly meeting cadence and organizing slide decks using Powerpoint. Preparing project schedules and cost estimates during the bid proposal process. Supporting data entry and dashboards, for the resourcing of major programs in the Americas East region, using the Smartsheet tool. Tracking project implementation for various phases of the project, from project bid to construction. Evaluating proposals for technical/engineering support and conducting design review of proposals submitted by vendors and contractors. Supporting office operations by preparing monthly office newsletters, and slide decks for the monthly office townhalls.

TRAVEL: 40% domestic travel is required for project site visits. This also includes expectations to work from field offices that are in locations outside of the main office.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept: Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field and 1 year of work experience in job offered or related occupation.

SPECIFIC SKILLS: Special Skills or Other Requirements: Expertise/ knowledge of: Trimble Realworks software for 3D laser scanning and point cloud analysis. Lidar tools to model HVAC systems on a building modeling software such as Revit. Analyze feasibility and coverage of existing bus lines by converting GIS points to network points. Create simulations for multi-modal analysis using existing GIS data points and implementing optimization algorithms to determine how to maximize ridership. Mixed-Integer-Programming (MIP) in Python to generate optimal numbers of demand to serve existing bus lines. OSHA 10 Safety Certification.
