Jacobs Cost Estimator (Flushing) in New York, New York
We are seeking a full time, on site Cost Estimator with prior MTA-NYCT estimating experience to support projects located in Queens New York. In this role, you will review design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, assess the risk and cost impacts required to develop the estimates as well as attend design development meetings, when required.
You will work with a knowledgeable and supportive team as you prepare estimates by developing project work breakdown structures, calculating complete scope of work take-offs, assist contracts staff with statements of work for subcontractors and vendors, apply construction means and methods, calculate indirect field and owner’s costs.
When you join us as a Cost Estimator, you’ll be responsible for:
• Developing capital cost estimates for transportation/transit projects.
• Reviewing contractor proposals for various procurement types.
• Reviewing and validating change orders.
• Interfacing with external clients in the presentation of capital costs.
• Maintaining organized and detailed files, project records and logs.
• Attending project meetings as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Progressive and successful cost estimating experience in transportation projects.
• Experience if Civil / Structural Projects
• Proficient use of:
o MS Office products,
o HCSS (HeavyBid) estimating software,
o Bluebeam.
• Good Organization Skills
• Willingness and ability to be on project site(s)
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or a related field.
• Substantial professional years of estimating and construction experience.
• Understanding of the relationship between cost, risk and schedule.
