We are looking for a motivated, collaborative Transportation/Traffic Engineer to join our New York team of planners, traffic / ITS engineers, and operations specialists with a wide variety of talent and experience. As a key member of our team, you’ll work on challenging transportation projects to primarily include traffic engineering, safety, urban intersections, interchanges, corridor, and traffic impact studies. Under the direction of a project manager, you will lead traffic engineering tasks and direct the work of less-experienced staff.

The primary location of this position in our New York office, with some flexibility to work from home. The base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. ​

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

  • Knowledgeable in traffic analysis tools such as Synchro and VISSIM, and other analysis tools

  • Basic knowledge of transportation, environmental, demographic, economic datasets, and analysis concepts

  • Ability to use Python / R / Advanced Excel to automate workflows.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel; CAD (AutoCAD, Microstation)

  • Perform Conceptual roadway design for Complete Streets, multimodal safety, and other roadway improvements

  • Analyzing intersection and roadway Level Of Service, developing and evaluating of traffic improvements

  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and InDesign in combination with ArcGIS to create appealing maps and data visualization.

  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; Coordinate internally with planners, engineers, scientists, and related professionals.

  • Excellent visual communication skills, including data visualization and infographics.

  • Valid driver’s license

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:

  • Master’s degree in Transportation Systems Engineering or a related field

  • Experience in conducting traffic engineering and transportation planning studies (field visits and oversee data collection);

  • Knowledgeable in transportation data such as crash data, signal data, vehicle probe data, traffic count data and analysis of large datasets using tools such as Tableau and Power BI

  • Experienced in developing maps and other graphics to document findings or visualize large data

  • Familiar with concept-level evaluations and studies of transportation improvements options, and associated measures of effectiveness
