There is a great opportunity to join Jacobs in New York as a Regional Traffic Engineer, Solutions and Technology Traffic Expert in our Highway and Bridge Group!

The position provides the ability to contribute immediately to rail/aviation/transportation project development and execution. Position will perform executive project management duties including design quality oversight, client development, proposal preparation and sales pursuits for complex multi-million dollar projects in the NYC Metro and Northeast Region of the United States.

The applicant should demonstrate an established career in the transportation facet of highway, bridge and aviation industry and have a successful track record of major project program management. The position will work in a matrix organization with local transportation and operations staff, regional leadership and national transportation executives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of the Transportation System Management and Operational aspect of project designs for complex multi-million dollar projects.

  • Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety and organization of the Traffic Groups internal technical and support staff, and subconsultants .

  • Provide technical guidance to his/her project staff.

  • Capacity to manage multi-disciplinary technical teams.

  • Plan, organize, and supervise work of a staff of professionals and technicians, including subconsultants .

  • Promote Jacobs values internally and externally by establishing relationships with the industry associations, contractors and consultants.

  • Help to plan and execute teaming strategies for Public Private Partnerships, Design-Build and other forms of project delivery.

  • Manage, ensure and enhance project quality by providing ideas and suggestions aimed at improving the effectiveness of project activities.

  • Help to deliver large complex and/or multiple projects on time and within budget.

  • Provide traffic safety leadership to projects.

  • Interface with the client to ensure expectations are identified and met.

  • Perform sales activities including client development, proposal and qualifications development, and interviews.

  • Participate in project presentations to elected officials, public and other stakeholders.

  • Recruit talented individuals with the emphasis on mentoring and retention.

  • Provide direction on major transportation pursuits and industry expertise to our projects.

  • Play a significant role in assisting with managing staff so that our transportation projects are delivered with a high level of quality.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required

  • Registration as a New York State Professional Engineer is required

  • Minimum of 30 years of Highway and Bridge and Aviation Traffic Engineering Experience

  • Proven experience working with local NYC agencies.

  • Solid history of successful project management

  • Operational field experience with rail/aviation/transportation and projects over $100 million in value.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective skills in leadership, mentoring, oral and written communication, planning, teamwork, decision making and problem solving
