As a Ports & Maritime Engineer, you’ll be part of the engineer dive group and have the chance to work with our global multi-disciplinary engineering team on ports and maritime projects worldwide. You’ll be part of the team with the design, analysis, and delivery of projects ranging from local waterfront projects to large-scale international port developments. The position will involve coordination and design of structural rehabilitation and retrofit projects as well as new marine structures. Comfort and experience with boating, swimming, and scuba diving are preferred.

New hires will be vetted through a 1 to 2-year process for consideration for commercial dive training. Upon completion of commercial dive training, you’ll join Jacobs’ engineer dive teams utilizing surface-supplied diving and commercial SCUBA equipment to conduct underwater inspections of waterfront structures across the globe.

Work Expectations:

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to perform a variety of analysis and design computations and plan creation for new structures or retrofit of existing structures

  • Work collaboratively with the CAD technician team

  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering/analysis reports and other technically related documents

  • Participate in field investigations and construction resident engineering services

The base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college

  • Excellent writing and communication skills (samples of writing to be provided by applicants)

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and small projects independently

  • Working knowledge of building codes and concrete, steel and timber design

  • Engineer in Training Certificate (or the ability to obtain one within three months)

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Masters degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering

  • Professional years of experience as a Structural Engineer

  • Professional Engineer License (or the ability to obtain one within one year)

  • Experience in preparation of construction drawings and specifications

  • Proficiency or fundamental understanding of structural analysis programs

  • Fieldwork or construction experience

  • Structural inspection experience

  • SCUBA and small boat experience
