Your Impact:

As a Structural Engineering Intern in the Ports and Maritime Group, you’ll have the chance to work with our global multi-disciplinary team of engineers working on ports and maritime projects all over the world. Working with other members of the team, you’ll be involved in the design, analysis, and delivery of projects ranging from local waterfront projects to international multi-billion dollar port developments. We also focus on the development of projects that make our waterfront communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change, from sea-level rise to coastal storm surge. In addition, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable field experience on infrastructure development projects throughout the New York City metropolitan area.

You will have the chance to assist in the delivery of our portfolio of exciting waterfront projects working as part of an integrated and forward-thinking team with the opportunity to learn from and assist key specialists. The hourly rate will be between $26-$28.79, depended on year of graduation.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Learn and engage in the design of coastal structures, with an emphasis on nature-based solutions and grey infrastructure to enhance resilience to coastal flooding

  • Contribute to the preparation of design drawings, technical memorandums, technical specifications, and design reports for the successful delivery of our coastal projects

  • Work collaboratively across the various disciplines and markets within Jacobs to further develop your professional career and knowledge while being a key part of our project delivery teams projects

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Design

  • Must be at least a rising Junior

  • Working knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • A 3.0 GPA

  • A previous internship , or professional work experience related to your field of study

  • Demonstrate experience with structural analysis programs such as STAAD, Etabs, SAP2000, or other finite-element based structural analysis program

  • Self-driven time management and organizational skills
