Joining our NYC-based team offers the exciting challenge of working on large-scale transit and rail projects. You will have the chance to apply your knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in a collaborative team environment.

In this role, you are expected to apply basic engineering principles to a diverse range of transit and rail projects. This includes supporting technical research, developing specifications and requirements, performing data collection, conducting performance and condition assessment reviews, and carrying out calculations and analysis. A significant part of your role involves supporting field inspections and testing programs on various equipment. Collaboratively working with team members in developing system requirements is also key here.

Depending on the specific assignment, you may be responsible for providing technical and engineering support in the preparation of technical specifications and requirements for various equipment. This includes qualification testing, maintenance, and training requirements for various transit vehicles, such as zero-emission fleets and vehicle control systems, as well as train signaling, communications, and traction power.

Your role may include overseeing and witnessing factory testing prior to shipment approval, logging discrepancies, and preparing reports on the status of system testing. Also, you may support on-site work such as monitoring of field implementation and testing activities for a range of transit and rail assets. You may also support the system integration of vehicle, signal, communication, and power systems/ subsystems from different suppliers to ensure compatibility and functional performance.

Your responsibilities may extend to supporting research on current technologies, performing detailed design reviews of proposed product and system designs, and preparing pertinent reports. Additionally, you may assist in assessing the performance and specification compliance of various equipment and systems. Collaborating with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and formulate responses is an integral part of your role. Irrespective of the role, you will be expected to prepare detailed reports, interact with other teams, and perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

As an intern, you will work in a team environment, reporting to the project lead or manager for technical support, task assignments, and processes. Ideal candidates should possess strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a passion for learning.
