Our team at the Eastside Access project is looking for a Test Engineer – Signals & Communications to join them!
Verification and validation of complex rail systems requiring the ability to review test plans, test specs, and test reports in support of the Systems Integration team; and interfacing with the Testing and Commissioning Engineer on multiple contracts supporting various program wide testing involving communications and signal systems.
Reports to Program Manager-Systems or designee. Key responsibilities include:
Verification and validation that Signals and Communications systems have been installed in accordance with design criteria.
Carry out specific testing oversight and reporting activities as required.
Review requirement documentation and design documentation in support of development team.
Document and maintain records of testing procedures and results.
Assist in preparation of testing estimates as required.
Assist in the planning of testing activities in conjunction with allocated tester in charge.
Implement testing strategies, work along cross functional teams including owner, contractor and supplier technical representatives
Review contractor safety plans for field testing and evaluate compliance with project requirements.
Prepare reports and present testing results to stakeholders.
BS in electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science; or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction management environment involving the testing and commissioning of communications and signaling systems including testing, verification, validation, and commissioning of hardware and associated software. Experience with factory acceptance testing as well as site testing preferred.
Knowledge of database applications (i.e. Access). Strong PC computer skills with knowledge of Expedition or similar and MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Analytical reasoning and problem solving; highly organized; ability to work in complex environment. Experience with one or more of the following systems:
Signaling and train control
Building systems management and control
Computer or control rooms
Electrical equipment systems
Fiber Optic interfaces
Fire and Life Safety Systems controls or formal testing processes
Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
