Jacobs Transportation Planner in New York, New York
As the New York metropolitan region continues to grow, there are increasing strains on transportation infrastructure. The growth in population, while important for economic development, congests roadways, limiting the ability of residents to quickly access jobs, school, and other destinations.
Jacobs is looking to hire a Transportation Planner with freight planning and traffic analysis experience to join our Northeast Transportation Planning Group. The Transportation Planning Group works on innovative planning projects alongside traffic/ITS engineers, urban designers, architects, environmental planners, and sustainability experts with a wide variety of talent and experience.
We are looking for someone to work as Project Manager to assist in delivering a range of multi-modal transportation planning projects. The candidate may serve as a representative of Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Act as Project Manager on various transportation planning projects.
• Assist the Transportation Planning Lead with Business Development .
• Provision of analytical support to projects across the spectrum of our transportation planning business.
• Assist in the preparation of planning studies, alternatives analyses, impact assessments, special projects, and technical reports.
• Assist in the preparation of transportation and corridor planning projects, or any other infrastructure/land use project.
• Research current transportation related topics at the local, State, and Federal levels.
• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, engineering, or comparable degree.
• Familiarity with urban freight and logistics.
• Familiarity with transportation planning process in NYC.
• Familiarity with Federal, State, or local NYC transportation policy.
• P.E. certification or AICP Certification or ability to obtain certification in the first two years of employment.
• Experience in the preparation of planning studies and technical analysis.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team of professionals.
• Exceptional technical writing and verbal skills.
• Ability to analyze data utilizing spreadsheets and database software
• Must be innovative, detail-oriented, experienced in highly visible/controversial projects
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships at various levels and to resolve problems.
• Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
• Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Master’s Degree in Urban Planning
