Your Impact:

Jacobs’s Remote Sensing Division is seeking a Software Engineer. This engineer will help develop, mature, and sustain electro-optical remote sensing systems, in addition to integrating these systems onto airborne platforms. This position requires close interaction with a team of 10 hardware and software engineers to ensure projects are being executed efficiently and effectively.

The software engineer will assist in the creation of remote sensing camera systems, as well as the performance analysis and integration/test support thereof. Candidates will be exposed to a broad range of engineering disciplines, from developing electromechanical and software systems, to working with COTS and custom hardware and software tools to collect and process imagery and geospatial data.

Candidates must be able to identify software/system performance drivers, prioritize issues based on system impact, and play a hands-on role in solving software problems in a startup-like environment. Candidates may be asked to conduct software technology assessments and convey this information to the rest of the team.

Most importantly, the ideal candidate will bring a drive to execute with quality, to learn and perform a broad set of tasks, and to coordinate effectively with others, putting the team first.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Required :

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) or equivalent bachelor degree.

  • Experience developing C++ and Python object oriented software.

  • Knowledge of software engineering practices including software design and testing.

  • Ability to isolate software/system issues and determine root cause (i.e. substantial debugging skills).

  • Use of Linux operating systems.

Preferred :

  • Use of Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tools (e.g. eclipse, Netbeans, MS Visual Studio).

  • General use of software configuration management tools (e.g. SVN, git, clearcase).

  • Basic understanding of Software Design Patterns.

  • Use of Microsoft operating systems.

  • Use of standard productivity tools, Microsoft Windows, Office, etc.
