About the Opportunity
Our Transport Structures section is experiencing significant growth due to recent project wins. We have several key engineering positions at varying levels to assist with the project workload and grow our team sustainably with great people. As a Bridge Engineer, you will use your technical expertise and sound judgement to deliver interesting and high profile projects.
The Transport Structures team specialises in the design and development of bridges and other civil structures. We work as part of multi-disciplinary teams to deliver major infrastructure projects for our clients who include government transport agencies, major contractors and asset owners. We are involved in projects throughout NSW, Australia and globally.
As a Bridge Engineer, your project responsibilities will include:
Undertake structural design tasks for standard form bridges and other civil structures (e.g. culverts, retaining walls, tunnel support elements, gantries and overhead support structures);
Ensure the designs and drawings developed are in accordance to relevant authorities/Australian Standards;
Lead the design or project manage small scale commissions;
Develop innovative design solutions whilst applying best practice;
Prepare design reports;
Participate in bids and contribute to tenders;
Undertake regular site visits/inspections and manage any site investigation works;
Attending project and client meetings to communicate project updates, progress and other matters relating to project constraints;
Work collaboratively with other team members to develop design solutions and deliver documentation.
Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering;
Minimum 6 years technical experience and knowledge in structural designs, including bridges;
Demonstrated experience in the use of structural analysis software such as Microstran and finite element analysis packages;
Good knowledge of AS5100 and other relevant Australian Standards;
Experience in leading or project managing small commissions will be highly regarded;
Demonstrated ability to prepare design reports;
Strong communication skills including excellent command of English.
Experience working with NSW transport authority, RMS and Sydney Trains will be highly regarded;
Experience in managing delivery of small tasks and mentor junior members;
