Jacobs Nuclear Projects and Consulting is a Tier 1 service provider of the U.S. Department of Energy, we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and productions sites. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, and engineering and construction.

We are looking for a Structural Designer who has a desire to work on national security types of projects within a team environment. The work will be performed in Oak Ridge, TN with potentially some travel. You will be able to focus on tackling the toughest situations with a smile as you support the development of life changing infrastructure that improves communities all over the United States. Here’s what you’ll need :

  • 2 years of experience specializing in structural design with 1 year of experience in a non-specialized subject

  • Must specialize in structural design

  • Must have at least 1 year of experience with structural design in Revit

  • Ability to autonomously develop 3D models and drawings

  • 1 years of experience with AutoCAD suite of tools

  • US Citizenship is required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)

  • Required to live with a commutable distance to Oak Ridge, TN

Preferred Experience:

  • Architectural design is preferred

  • Experience working with heavy industrial and nuclear projects

  • Ability to model other commodities (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, etc.)

  • Cross discipline experience between Architectural and Structural

  • Q Clearance

  • Experience with MicroStation and Smart Plant 3D

  • Experience working in detailing shop or in field at project site

Essential Requirements:

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary. Some walking and standing may occur in the course of a normal workday in connection with travel to and from meeting and conferences. May transport light items, such as reports, data products, notebooks, and laptops.

Work Environment: Work to be completed in Oak Ridge, TN. Work may be completed in secure facilities as required.

Critically in Attendance: Must be able to work a 40-hour week overlapping the core work hours of 09:00 to 16:00 Monday through Thursday in the office in Oak Ridge, TN. Occasional flexibility is available as needed.

Equipment and Machines: Standard office equipment and machines, personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies, personal computer and required CAD software.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Must have ability to secure and maintain a security clearance as required

  • Must pass drug testing

  • Must be able to read and write effectively in English

  • Must embrace Beyond Zero/Safety ethics of Jacobs to include adhering to safe work practices and standards while performing daily tasks, taking responsibility for own and coworkers' safekeeping and encouraging others to work safely

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional with supervisor, customers, clients, co-workers, and organization
