The cost analyst is responsible for development, analysis and reporting of cost data. The analyst will provide guidance to the PMO, Project Delivery Team, Program Manager and Project Managers on potential impact of spending adjustments.
Role and Responsibilities:
Analyzes drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
Consults with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Confers with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Upon completion of the independent estimate, negotiate the Change Order with the Contractor
Report on productivity and cost tracking metrics for engineering and construction firms and internal project management teams
Develop, report, and manage cost data for projects
Extract cost and schedule information from reporting systems and analyze data to report on status of the project
Participate in and may lead project cost review meetings
Engaged with the tracking system to ensure that project manager is fully aware of detailed change order status
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
15 years’ experience in cost estimating
Public agency experience such as BART or Caltrans is desirable
