Job Description

Jacobs is seeking a full time Subject Matter Expert 2 (AD). Under government direction, provide software and systems engineering tasks for the requirements, design, implementation, integration, and support of all software and associated documentation for new, upgraded, and existing PEX capabilities. Interacts with other software and computer hardware engineering groups to define, document, conduct and interpret performance tests for products, systems and components. Identifies critical hardware/software problems. Isolates and defines unknown conditions, or develops new theories, and provides software test products. Work affects the development of major aspects of military programs or missions and the work of other experts.

Typical Duties

Work scope may include any/all of the following duties:

  • Provides Help Desk support, classroom training, on-the-road training, virtual training, technical writing support, data standards, and overall sustainment support to a diverse PEX User community that ranges from traditional USAF flying to multi-domain military operations.

  • Provides support for Operational Test activities as required.

  • Provides technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.

  • Participates as needed in all phases of software development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing, integration, documentation , and presentation phases

  • Support involves the use of multiple software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office components (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), Internet Explorer (IE), Skype, Microsoft SQL, Kayako, Defense Connect Service (DCS), Robohelp, Sharepoint, Team Foundation Server (TFS), etc.

And/OR

  • Coordinate with base Small Computers and Communications support agencies to ensure PEX is installed and operating correctly

  • Assist military personnel with the installation of PEX servers and clients, including non-scheduled updates and/or patches to applicable servers and clients

  • Oversee PEX implementation, upgrades, and disposition; ensure local hardware is compatible with PEX software

  • Manage PEX security permission levels, user list, and access levels

  • Provide initial, continuity, or refresher training to local users on-site in the operations of PEX features and upgrades

  • Troubleshoot PEX software problems found by the user at the unit or squadron to provide problem identification, resolution and tracking to include logging the problem, duplicating through testing and analyzing until a resolution is found

  • Maintain control and cognizance over USG unclassified/classified data.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Education Desired/Required:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Inforamation Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related discipline; or the equivalent work experience and at least five (5) years of related work experience.

Required Clearance

  • Must hold a current DoD Secret clearance at the time of interview.

Experience Required

Knowledge, skills & abilities required:

  • Must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (ie. Security+)

  • Must possess and apply expertise on multiple work assignments, which may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation to accomplish tasks.

  • Must be able to develop methodology and present solutions to problems.

  • Knowledge of PEX software application is desirable.

  • Must have ability to provide technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments.

  • Must have ability to establish goals and plans that meet project objectives.

  • Must have domain and expert technical knowledge.

  • Must have ability to interact and negotiate with client and senior management.

  • Must have ability to supervise others.

  • Military experience in one of the following backshop areas: Training, Stan/Eval, Scheduling, and/or Unit Readiness Tracking.

And/Or

  • Four years’ experience administering infrastructure support to mainframe and/or client server systems and/or DoD systems is required.

  • Dependent upon local unit requirements, knowledge of networking hardware/software over classified and unclassified government networks may be required.

  • Patriot Excalibur experience highly desirable.

  • Operating flying and non-flying experience in training, Stan/Eval, scheduling, and readiness experience is desirable.

  • Dependent upon local unit requirements, be knowledgeable on the core systems and database management and maintain control over certified PEX systems.

  • Must have ability to interact with and provide timely support to government customers

  • Air Force experience in one of the following backshop areas: Training, Stan/Eval, Scheduling, and/or Unit Readiness Tracking is highly desirable.

Training & Certifications

  • Performance Work Statement (PWS) may define and require specialized training and/or Certifications in order to effectively satisfy work requirements.

  • Training for specialized PWS requirements will be provided.

  • Eligibility for security clearance up to TS/SCI with SSBI, as required

U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

Light - some walking and standing may occur in the course of a normal workday in connection with travel to and from meetings and/or training users. Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to move objects. Exposed to computer monitors, copy machine, and constant wrist movement. Operates typical office equipment such as computers, copiers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment:

Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Cubical environment in a confined/restricted work area.

Equipment and Machines:

Standard office equipment and machines: personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.

Attendance:

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

Must be able to work within the shift hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

May be required to work outside of normal shift hours when required for mission support.

Must be flexible to support the customer.

Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to secure and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.
