Range Operations Technician

Jacobsis seeking a Range Operations Technician to support military trainingmissions. The individual will be locatedat Avon Park Air Force Range, FL assisting 598thRangeSquadron.

Duties will includecoordinating and scheduling range related joint air/ground activities withinter-service flying squadrons and ground force maneuver elements and managingan integrated air/ground training schedule. Individual will brief users on range policies and procedures and provideoversight to ensure compliance. Dutieswill also include operating and maintaining the remotely operated moving targetsystems.


Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of an Associates Degree and 3 years related experience supporting military field operations withemphasis on joint operations in exercise and field environments.


  • Candidate must be able to obtain a security clearance.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time toattendplanning conferences for major training exercises.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent presentation and briefing skills to present status to seniorleadership and staff.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.


  • Understandingof US Air Force air/ground doctrine and use of close air support (CAS) on thebattlefield.

Essential Functions


Work mayinvolve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may requirefiling, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficientmobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneelingto complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is apossibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walkingmoderate to long distances may be required.

-Climbing ladders and tower stairs to observation points


An inside andoutside environment (considerations: closed quarters, close together,lighting). Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels ofmanagement. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions.

-Duringwar-time, deployments, exercises, or similar national emergency or missionessential operational periods, individual may be required to remain at site forextended periods or work extended hours.

-Must be able to work effectively alone, unsupervised, or in groups.

-Must present smooth, knowledgeable, professional appearance to the government client.

Equipment andMachines

Ability tooperate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine,telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and otherwork related tools as required.


Regular hourswill be between Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Regular attendance ofscheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlinesand meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meetdeadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situationsbased on critical mission requirements.

Other EssentialFunctions

Mustdemonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers,management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communicationsskills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must beappropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees orothers. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicatingin a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or worksite is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fieldsmay be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In somecases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. Whenoperating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition,no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
