We are looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our Ottawa team who is excited about solving complex industrial electrical systems issues for our clients in the municipal water/wastewater treatment and distribution industry.

As part of our team you will gain an understanding for all phases of design through the preparation and development of design drawings and specifications, while also supporting our projects in the active construction and commissioning phase. You will participate in developing engineering solutions in a team environment. You can expect the work to include site visits, client meetings, coordination with other disciplines and internal team members, proposal development, electrical engineering design calculations, quality control checks, coordinating with suppliers/vendors/manufacturers, development of contract drawings/specifications, and more. During your time with us you will work in multidisciplinary teams, and engage with technical leads and project managers to prepare quality documents to Jacobs and Client standards, and will be an important part of our ongoing quality control procedures.

You will have the flexibility of working from home or our office located in Ottawa, with the expectation to travel to the office for a weekly team meeting, and to client sites for ongoing design and construction/commissioning support activities as required.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • P.Eng. or EIT designation, licensed in the province of Ontario preferred. Minimally, eligibility to obtain a P.Eng. or EIT license in Ontario is required.

  • Demonstrated working experience in a design/consulting environment in Electrical engineering is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of design and construction site inspection requirements for industrial electrical systems within Canada. Experience in oil/gas, process manufacturing, or municipal water/wastewater systems is an asset.

  • Basic knowledge and application of the industrial electrical codes used in Canada such as the Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and other related standards such as NFPA standards and IEEE & CSA standards.

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas.

  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base.

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Ability to take ownership and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Passionate about design and construction.

Ideally, you will also have one or more of below skills and experience:

· At least 2 years of experience using design CAD software, preferably AutoCAD. Experience in MicroStation, Revit an asset.

· Basic knowledge of Electrical design software an asset (AGI32i, SKM, or Etap).

· Microsoft Office Suite.
