As an Office Engineer for transit light rail construction, you’ll join our collaborative team providing our clients with award-winning planning, engineering, architectural design, construction management, and design-build project delivery. You'll develop and deliver on project scopes, budgets, reports, contracts, and schedules, you’ll help our teams achieve our client’s objectives. Your keen ability to multi-task, communicate effectively and tackle project challenges will allow you to thrive in our fast-paced environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Processes RFIs for Engineering review and maintains a file of all RFIs and a RFI Log to reflect all actions related to the processing of project RFIs.

  • Leads the contractor payment process ensuring that the payment reflects the progress of the work and the completed has been properly verified and the quantity of work invoiced is reflected within the contractors invoice.

  • Monitors contractor proposals and claims, including maintaining a log of proposals and changes. Work with estimator coordinating and clarifying scope of work for Independent Cost Estimates. Reviews such for determination of merit. Provides documentation to support the RE’s recommendation for merit and additional payment. Participates in negotiations of contractor proposed amounts. Assembles required documentation for change orders and completes processing of changes.

  • Participates in any disputes process and takes the lead on documentation.

  • Ensures that received correspondence from the contractor is properly archived and logged. Drafts response as requested.

  • Receives, maintains log to reflect status of all contractor submittals and ensure they are processed in a proper and timely manner.

  • Maintains frequent contact for communication with construction contractor’s office staff to maintain full awareness of project status regarding field activities, progress and issues.

  • Performs other duties as directed by the Resident Engineer.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field

  • Required to be onsite daily in downtown Phoenix, AZ

  • Valid AZ State Driver’s License or capable of transferring out-of-state driver’s license.

Ideally, you’ll also have these qualifications:

  • Experience using ACONEX or similar project management software desired.

  • CMAA Certifications desired: Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Construction Manager In-Training (CMIT)
