Position Summary

Responsible for leading the Landside Projects Design team for the $1B Pittsburgh International Airport, Terminal Modernization Program (PIT-TMP). Reports directly to the Program Design Manager and leads a team of professional architects and engineers accountable for efficient and effective delivery of the landside projects within the Pittsburgh Terminal Modernization Program.

Technical/Functional Responsibilities:

  • Primary representative onsite for management of the design delivery for the (PIT-TMP) Landside Projects including a multi-deck parking structure with integrated CONRAC, surface parking, roadways, utilities, wayfinding and related ancillary projects.

  • Supports the Design Manager in reporting Program design status for all Landside Projects.

  • Responsible for Design Management resources, sub consultants, tasks and work necessary for the successful delivery of design for the Program.

  • Responsible for coordinating all design management activities, preparation and implementation of design standards, developing statements of work for design services, solicitation and award of design services contracts, design reviews, value engineering and design quality management for the Landside Projects.

  • Reporting consists of schedule, cost, budget metrics, submittal tracking and overall design progress for Landside Projects.

  • Evaluate the progress of the design for the Landside Projects on a regular basis and proactively implement actions to address Project design issues and risks (scope, cost and schedule) and capitalize on project opportunities.

  • Reporting of the PIT-TMP Landside Projects Design scope, schedule and financial status to the Program leadership team.

  • Leads identification and resolution of physical and/or operational interfaces between the Projects and other projects within the overall Program.

  • Facilitates resolution of issues and mitigation of risks associated with delivery of the Projects’ Design.

  • Continually collaborates with Key Project/Program stakeholders the Projects’ Design phasing and evolution.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering or equivalent related discipline

  • 10 years successfully leading design teams on new airport landside projects and/or renovations in excess of $25M and 100,000sf

  • Led design teams of 20 professionals for new airport landside projects and/or renovations

  • Good listening, writing and communication skills

  • Able to present data to management in an organized fashion

  • Strong planning and organizational skills
