Key Responsibilities include:

• Advisory role with input to, and oversight of, contractor/licensee proposals as design develops.

• Advise customer on design features to meet project and regulatory requirements whilst ensuring value for money and guarding against excessive margins. Inform customer view of design drivers and trade-offs and recommendations on the value for money design option.

• Support customer at Seismic Working Group for the design and development of structures.

• Technical Support on civil and structural engineering design features to inform how they affect operability of the facility.

• Provide advice on the developing design for manufacturability, and through life maintainability (EIMT, ONR TAG 009).

• Provide technical inputs for funding requests and technical requirements for contracts.

• Review design & construction activities and schedules to identify areas that can be improved and reduce construction timescales..

Note location: Plymouth Devonport, some ad hoc travel to Bristol. Work from Home possible but will require a degree of attendance in Plymouth. Opportunity to work in client advisory role on a high profile defence project.

Essential

• Knowledge, understanding and experience of implementing infrastructure projects (design and construction) on UK nuclear licensed sites.

• Experience of seismic assessment of existing structures and design of modifications to meet nuclear safety case requirements.

• Experience of design and safety management of heavy civils/infrastructure, defence facilities and nuclear installations within UK nuclear licensed sites.

• Experience of working with, and advising, government clients.

• Chartered Engineer of either the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers (or equivalent).

• SC Clearance.

• British National.

Desirable

• Knowledge of design, safety features, previous modifications, current asset condition and asset performance of existing Submarine infrastructure at Devonport.
