Jacobs Senior Water Conveyance Engineer (Hydraulic Modeling) in Portland, Oregon
We are seeking a Senior Water Conveyance Engineer for our Portland office to assist with urban water, wastewater, and stormwater planning, modeling, and design projects. This position provides opportunity in both technical delivery and innovation as well as client service and relationship development, and our Portland-based team will help to build on your current expertise through mentorship and challenging project assignments. You will also have the opportunity to lead teams and mentor less experienced staff serving as a Task Lead, Assistant Project Manager, and/or Project Manager. This position will also interface with our broader Portland team and participate in our global technical communities of practice in collection system modeling, distribution system modeling, wet weather management, stormwater, and system optimization.
Expertise is required in network hydraulic modeling, hydrologic modeling, and GIS. Preferred candidates will show expertise in hydrologic principles, I&I analysis, pump station operations, diversion and storage operations, valve operations, and pipeline design principles. Candidates should highlight applicable experience with the following:
• Software applications such as InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, SewerGEMs, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, Mike Urban, EPASWMM, EPASSOAP, InfoWater, WaterGEMs, EPANet, and ArcGIS
• Programming languages such as Python Scripting for GIS and Visual Basic for Excel
• Master planning
• Model development and calibration
• Hydraulic or operational design
You will have the opportunity to utilize your technical skills to work with a team on creative approaches to problem solving including task automation and system optimization.
Our Senior Water Conveyance Engineers:
• Conduct work in collaboration with peers and oversee/mentor less experienced staff
• Evaluate, select and apply standards of advanced engineering and modeling techniques
• Develop computer model applications for complex hydrologic and hydraulic systems
• Perform technical writing and client presentations
• Engage in programming, statistical analysis, and data research
• Graduate degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field
• Professional Engineer license
• 15 years of experience
