Position Summary

As a Transit Engineer, you will have the chance to provide design expertise in a structured team framework, contributing to the design and construction of BRT and light rail projects. Working with other members of the team, this position includes involvement in the technical project work, as well as project delivery and project management, and the ability to communicate and coordinate with clients and stakeholders. During your time with us, you will use your understanding of data analysis and experience with technical design, including experience working with Microstation and AutoCAD, to:

  • Act as part of a team of professionals on multiple projects. Ability to identify and solve design and construction challenges is required.

  • Interact with team members and assist in the coordination of work among engineers and detailers.

  • Develop preliminary and detailed construction cost estimates.

  • Assist with conceptual studies.

  • Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.

  • Works collaboratively with the CAD technician team

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Attend design review meetings, and interact with clients as your level of experience progresses



  • Proficient in BRT/light rail design concepts

  • Have experience working with teams developing plans, specifications, and estimates transit projects

  • A minimum of 5 years light rail and/or BRT design experience on relevant projects

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from accredited university

  • OR PE or ability to obtain within 6 months

  • Strong proficiency with MicroStation and/or ACAD

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as other commonly employed software

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Have experience with utility coordination

  • Proficiency with Civil3D and InRoads
