About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an ESH Advisor to join our AWE line of business, the successful candidate will become part of a respected and ambitious team offering a fantastic opportunity which will allow the successful individual to be involved on an exciting nuclear framework. The Non-Nuclear Engineering Partner framework will see tasks spreading from minor activities to multi million pound major projects.

This role involves promoting and influencing ESH behaviours and cultures on the framework. We are seeking an ESH Advisor to engage with our operational teams throughout the life cycle phases of the framework within the construction and engineering sectors, including civil, mechanical, and electrical operations.

Based primarily at the Burghfield Site you will work in the role of ESH Advisor. Overseeing the governance of ESH across the any project you are placed on, adding value through innovation and best practices, whilst being accountable for ensuring the safe delivery.

Reporting directly to the ESH Manager and Key contacts within the business such as Senior Project Managers, direct reports, and other discipline managers.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Promotes and influences ESH activity and behaviours.

  • Ability to work on own initiative and co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process.

  • Provide advice on ESH matters and good practice, so that business, corporate and legal requirements are met in an effective and appropriate manner both at site and in the office.

  • Advise and support site managers in the production and adherence of an ESH plan, so that best practice is consistently applied (CDM2015)

  • Audit and inspection to ESH requirements, both within the business and with suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Provide information for management reports covering ESH-related activities and incidents, so that senior management, the staff consultative committee and others have clear visibility of performance and trends.

  • Lead incident investigations (within the areas of responsibility) so that the integrity and completeness of the investigation and actions arising is assured.

  • Ensure statistical information is collated and updated for senior management reports.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • NEBOSH General and/or Construction certificate.

  • Recognised body Membership e.g., IOSH.

  • Significant site and construction experience, typically equivalent to at least 5 years’ experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisation.

  • Experience of formulating, implementing, and revising ESH policies and procedures.

  • Positive attitude, adaptable and resilient to change.

  • Good knowledge of CDM.

  • Good knowledge in use of Microsoft office programmes, especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Teams.
