At Jacobs Redding Office you will have the opportunity to work on world class transportation projects. Typical projects range from small recreational trails to multi-billion dollar programs, and everything in between. Jacobs has industry leading technical professionals providing limitless career growth opportunities. Initial duties for the entry level position will include, but are not limited to, geometric design of roadways including design of horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation design, grading, drainage (hydrology and hydraulics), signing, striping, erosion control, maintenance of traffic during construction, quantity take-offs, and design review. You will work closely with our talented project teams through all phases of plan production as we carry projects from concept design to bid ready documents.

The Redding office has approximately 120 professionals serving the transportation, water, and environmental markets. As a member of the Redding Team, you will be joining a talented group of professionals, ranging from other entry level engineers to career professionals with decades of experience. Redding has a population of approximately 100,000 people and is located in a beautiful setting. The Redding community is situated near Lassen National Park, Shasta Lake, and Whiskeytown Lake National Recreation Area among many other nationally recognized attractions, offering near limitless opportunities for outdoor recreation. This position provides an incredible opportunity for staff to enjoy the advantages of living in a small community while being given the opportunity to work on world class projects across the country.

Working with other members of the team, this position includes involvement in the technical project work and the opportunity to communicate and coordinate with team members and clients. Projects are primarily located across northern California, and the western US.

Additional job functions include the following:

  • Act as part of a team of professionals on multiple projects of varying size.

  • Identify and solve design and construction challenges

  • Use and follow design manuals and standards, including but not limited to the AAHSTO Roadway Design Manual (Greenbook), AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, and many other client or State specific design guides and manuals.

  • Review standard details and specifications and create or author as needed

  • Provide design support through construction

  • Interact with team members and assist in the coordination of work among engineers and detailers.

  • Develop preliminary and detailed construction cost estimates.

  • Assist with conceptual studies.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from accredited university

  • E.I.T. or ability to obtain within 1-year of employment

Experience with the following software is preferred, but not required:

  • MicroStation, Inroads, OpenRoads, or ConceptStation

  • AutoCAD and Civil3D

  • AutoTurn

  • FlowMaster, HY-8, Inroads Storm and Sanitary, or other Hydrology and Hydraulic related design software

  • Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as other commonly employed software

The base salary range for this position is $58,600 to $91,600. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position
