Network Engineer to support the Network Operations Team on the IRES program at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Primary duties include operations and maintenance of the MDA general service network infrastructure, primarily troubleshooting and managing configurations on network routers, switches, encryptors, and firewalls. Will perform network and firewall engineering, monitoring and administration functions as required, provide initial analysis and troubleshooting on issues identified with network monitoring tools and provide troubleshooting support to end users on the network as well as other general networking tasks. Additional responsibilities include: generate/provide status reports, provide network anomaly analysis, and develop engineering redlines as needed to support network maintenance actions, engineering changes/upgrades, and security vulnerabilities. May work off hours or on call as required.

Qualifications

Requirements : The candidate must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: High School Diploma plus 8 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 6 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience. Requires 4 years of relevant experience in related field. Candidates must have at least 4 years of applicable experience with Cisco routers, switches, and networking (LAN/WAN) technologies. Must have experience following documented processes and procedures and providing feedback to update as necessary. CompTIA Security certification with continuing education or equivalent is required to meet DoD 8570.1-M requirements. Must have a DoD Secret clearance with the ability to be granted a DoD Top Secret clearance.

Desired : Cisco CCNA Certification. Able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have good communication skills. Able to work well in a team environment, have good interpersonal skills, be a quick learner and have a positive, can-do attitude. Able to follow documented processes/procedures and provide feedback to update as necessary. Excellent customer service skills. Experience with Cisco routers/switches, and Network firewalls and KVM switches. Experience with TCP/IP, UDP Multicast, OSPF, and various WAN network mediums, legacy network systems such as SONET, LightWave ATM and TDM multiplexer network timing systems. Experience in supporting environments for an "operational network", to include tech-control environments, crypto maintenance, COMSEC, or systems administration. Proficient working with DISA, local and long-haul circuit vendors. Strong technical and hands-on experience in all of the following: various protocols for data transmission (RS-232, RS-530, T1, T3, ESF, D4, B8ZS, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192), OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) 7-layer model and the various facets of data transmission between any two points in a network. DSX equipment panels and associated wiring Fiber optics cabling, connectors and termination techniques, metallic cabling, connectors and termination techniques.
