Jacobs Drinking Water Operator II - Renton, WA in Renton, Washington

As a Drinking Water Operator II in Renton, WA, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted. Based in Renton, WA, you’ll perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant. You’ll contribute to the success of our program diagnosing operating problems, directing and performing necessary corrective action, and providing effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise. You’ll read gauges and meters, starts and stops equipment, and operate valves to route and control flow, make process control adjustments, determine and set proper chemical dosage and flow rates, and operate PLCs and SCADA systems. You’ll also prepare reports, maintain complete record keeping procedures, conduct meetings and training sessions pertaining to safety and process control, and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well- being of you and your team.

• Washington State Waterworks Operator WTPO 3 or equivalent or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• 2 years of experience operating a water treatment facility
• Experience with sound safety principles and practices
• Experience with computer operations and the ability to prepare spreadsheets and word processing documents & enter information into our maintenance management system
• Valid driver’s license with no major infractions
• Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment
Ideally you’ll also have:
• Knowledge of general maintenance work, safe work practices, principles and methods of biological and chemical analyses, effects and problems of drinking water treatment and processes, and principles of supervision
• Knowledge of computer software including, but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems
• Able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems

Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
