Jacobs is seeking a dynamic and goal-oriented leader to join our team as a Deputy Program Manager for a multi-million dollar IT services contract supporting a large federal government customer. The position will be based around the Reston, VA area. The selected candidate (along with the Program Manager) will:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of contract execution to include implementation, administration, service delivery, financial performance, and account support.

  • Lead teams and coordinate all contract activities to ensure delivery of contractual services, compliance with contractual terms and conditions and program security requirements, and adherence to corporate and program policies and procedures.

  • Work closely with back office functions such as Contracts, Procurement, Finance, HR, Staffing, Project Control and Security to address personnel and our customer’s operational concerns

  • Provide guidance and direction, and oversee development and performance management of assigned employees to prepare them for future positions of greater responsibility.

  • Prepare resource estimates and comply with overall budget limitations.

  • Serve as an advisor to executive management on matters within areas of responsibility; serve as member of corporate committees.

  • Be a creative, high integrity, and strategic thinker who can assess and evaluate process improvements across the organization to drive efficiencies

  • Be an experienced professional that is proficient at negotiating with the Government Contract Officer(s) and/or Contracting Officer Technical Representative(s) in evaluating contractual changes to include writing and facilitating Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), or special projects as defined by the Sponsor


Active TS SCI with Polygraph clearance Required

BS degree from an accredited college or university and fifteen (15) years related experience, or MS degree and thirteen (13) years related experience, or Ph.D. and nine (9) years of related experience.

Requires demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by prior supervisory/leadership experience of a work center in excess of 250 employees. Must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate.

The DPM will serve in an acting role for the Program Manager (PM) as required and will be required to travel locally within a 50-mile radius (further on occasion) to meet with personnel and customers to address issues and concerns

Requires demonstrated experience and success driving organizational change.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Physical Requirements

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Equipment and Machines

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
