Jacobs is actively seeking an Desktop Operations & Maintenance Manager at our Reston, VA location.
Manages the Desktop Operations and Maintenance Team. Is responsible for overseeing the repair, test and deployment of a wide variety of Servers and workstations in support of a global telecommunications network.
Plans, directs, and coordinates computer-related activities including electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming.
Performs day-to-day management of the program, and develops long-term and strategic objectives to ensure that end user requirements will be satisfied in future years of the contract.
Incumbents perform horizontal integration planning and interface with other functional areas, ensuring that technical solutions and schedules are implemented in a timely manner.
Provide management of contract personnel and ensure high-quality and acceptable task completion and deliverables within their contract in compliance with the SOW.
Provide frequent periodic reports on the status of the contractor staffing.
They are the point of contact for non-routine to moderately complex installation projects for communication networks.
They are accountable for meeting contractual performance criteria and due dates during service delivery, and successful overall project completion.
They coordinate activities in support of program managers and teams that support the provisioning, design, installation, maintenance, and billing of services.
They track and monitor service orders through completion and turn-up, and prepare deliverables (e.g., status reports to Government, order information, open issues).
Active TS/SCI with Poly level security clearance required
AS degree in information systems or computer science and four (4) to seven (7) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications. Progressive relevant training and/or certification may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.
Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing
Proficiency in the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)
Advanced knowledge of the customer and the inner workings of the organization are critical to this position.
Must pay attention to detail and remain alert at all times.
Prior experience with Cat5, Cat6, Fiber, Network Switches, and patch panels, Cisco Routers and Switches, ESMT
Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Systems Analysis — Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Project Management Professional certification
IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification
Assist in the growth and staffing needs of the group by conducting interviews and providing valued recommendations for new hires.
Assist with performance goals/measurements and training.
Work with immediate supervisor to ensure daily team responsibilities are met, to include daily schedule, managing work load, attending meetings, directing staff and provide disciplinary action when necessary.
The employee can make independent decisions that deal with the daily schedule and work to be accomplished. Issues requiring monetary direcapproval have to go up the reporting chain.
As manager the employee has full discretion and independent judgment as it relates to the incident tickets. As long as they remain within budget and scope the manager has full autonomy as it relates to the team and its resources. Outside of the incident framework the employee does not have approving authority for major monetary decisions.
Ensure that Contractor tasks are completed within the deadlines, tasking guidance from the Government is clear and unambiguous, contract personnel are qualified to perform the tasks, and potential personnel problems are pre-empted.
Consult and coordinate with the appropriate Task Manager for problem resolution, task scheduling, new resource requirements, training needs, and task clarification.
Establish and implement streamlined processes and procedures enabling the Contractor to rapidly respond to surge requirements for increased contract personnel. Assure SLA requirements are met.
Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
Assign and review the work of systems analysts, programmers, and other computer-related workers.
Stay abreast of advances in technology.
Develop computer information resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery.
Review and approve all systems charts and programs prior to their implementation.
Plan and coordinate activities such as installation and upgrading of hardware and software, programming and systems design, development of computer networks, and implementation of Internet and Intranet sites. They are increasingly involved with the upkeep, maintenance, and security of networks.
Analyze the computer and information needs of their organizations from an operational and strategic perspective and determine immediate and long-range personnel and equipment requirements
Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Equipment & Machines:
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
Customer and Personal Service:Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.An Information Technology Generalist proficient in many facets of information technology requirements. The candidate should possess general business knowledge and soft-skills allowing them to be adaptable in a wide array of work environments. The candidate should have the willingness to participate in these type of activities when called upon to do so.
Other Essential Functions/Characteristics:
Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check.
Must be a US citizen.
Must be willing to travel as needed.
