Jacobs is actively seeking Desktop Project Manager for contingent offer only at our Reston, VA location. Duties will include:

  • The Desktop PMs serves as project manager for hardware requirements that range from small to large efforts and as the team lead. These efforts are generally quick turnaround requests but can be implemented in phases depending on the customer request.

  • The DPM is responsible for validating and procuring equipment along with overseeing the delivery and implementation of the customer’s request.

  • The DPM is also responsible for ensuring that customer has received what was required and the related assets are accounted for. Throughout the management process, the DPM team lead works closely with the regional lead to address any issues or concerns that may arise that would impede customer satisfaction.

  • Assists in the growth and staffing needs of the group by conducting interviews and provide valued recommendations for new hires.

  • Accountable for meeting contractual performance criteria and due dates during service delivery, and successful overall project completion.

  • The employee can make independent decisions that deal with the daily schedule and work to be accomplished. If there are issues that require monetary approval then that has to go up the reporting chain. The prioritization of projects and the daily schedule of the capacity team is determined by the lead. Only urgent or high profile projects may be directed down to the capacity team.

  • As project manager, the employee has full discretion and independent judgment as it relates to the project. As long as they remain within budget and scope the DPM has full autonomy as it relates to the Desktop PM and its resources. Outside of the project framework the employee does not have approving authority for major monetary decisions.

  • Analyzes the computer and information needs of their organizations from an operational and strategic perspective and determines immediate and long-range personnel and equipment requirements.

  • Consults and coordinates with the appropriate Task Manager for problem resolution, task scheduling, new resource requirements, and task clarification.

  • Consults with users, management, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.

  • Plans and coordinates activities such as installation and upgrading of hardware and software.

  • Assists with performance goals/measurements and training.

  • Works with immediate supervisor to ensure daily team responsibilities are met, to include daily schedule, managing work load, attending meetings, directing staff and provide disciplinary action when necessary.

  • Ensures that Contractor tasks are completed within the deadlines, tasking guidance from the Government is clear and unambiguous, contract personnel are qualified to perform the tasks, and potential personnel problems are pre-empted.

  • Establishes and implements streamlined processes and procedures enabling the Contractor to rapidly respond to surge requirements for increased contract personnel. Assures SLA requirements are met.

  • Directs daily operations of project team(s) by: analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, and setting deadline

  • Provides weekly status reports, provides monthly status reports, and conducts annual performance reviews.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain TS/SCI with Poly level security clearance

  • AS degree in information systems or computer science and one (1) to three (3) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.

  • Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing

  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)

  • Advanced knowledge of the customer and the interworkings of the organization are critical to this position.

  • Must pay attention to detail and remain alert at all times.

  • Must take and pass a drug test and background check

  • Must be able to maintain regular, reliable attendance and ensure on time daily arrival

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan and coordinate programming and systems design, development of computer networks, and implementation of Internet and intranet sites.They are increasingly involved with the upkeep, maintenance, and security of networks.

  • Prior knowledge with Cat5, Cat6, Fiber, Network Switches, and patch panels, voice technologies, Microsoft Project, ESMT

  • Stay abreast of advances in technology.

Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
