Jacobs is seeking a Network Architect with a TS/SCI polygraph in the Reston, VA area. Position is contingent. Duties will include:

  • Design/optimize network topologies and prepare technical proposals for presentation at Engineering Review Boards.

  • Ability to evaluate new technologies with specific focus on ASAs and make recommendations regarding integration of these technologies into an enterprise network

  • Demonstrated experience managing Enclaves and ASA firewall appliances.

  • Work with customers to determine network requirements, write system requirement documents, and develop design solutions (physical and logical) that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines.

  • Working at the architectural level, develop strategic recommendations for future hardware and network security policies to include assisting other engineers in identifying and implementing next generation firewalls into a large enterprise network

  • Evaluates vendors

  • Write and configure scripts

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Polygraph Clearance

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system discipline and seven (7) years of progressive experience

  • Requires a working knowledge of STP, VTP, Virtual LAN’s and Trunking (VLAN’s); Network Security (ACL’s, IPSEC Tunnels); SONET, ATM, MPLS, POS, Multicast and how to properly implement these technologies.

  • Possess the ability to author system design documents, system adminstration and operations manuals, user guides, security plans, and training documentation. Have excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills

  • Understand the new features of the Nexus eqipment, Virtual Port Channels (VPC), bonding server NICs and Virtual Device Context (VDC), one physical device supporting multiple networks

  • Strong knowledge of Routing and Switching systems (Cisco & Juniper)

  • Have an understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP)

  • In-depth understanding of networking systems and TCP/IP to include experience in IP Addressing and Subnetting; Network Address Translations; MTU; QoS

  • Desired Certifications; Security , CCNP, CCVP, CCSP, CCIP, CCDP, OR JNCIS; or 15-20 years of experience in IP network technology

  • Riverbed experience highly desired

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance: Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
