Jacobs has an opportunity for a Network Designer with an active TS/SCI Polygraph to work at a customer site in Reston, VA. Duties include:
Serve as the network engineer supporting a specific Program Management Office and Data Center requirements.
Responsible for a full range of complex first article network designs encompassing multiple technologies that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines.
Develop robust standards, templates, and network documentation.
Support designs through Engineering Review Board and providing concise explanations of the design if required.
Identify and register available IP addresses and size the subnets as defined by the customer as well as provide DHCP scopes and Active Directory entries for specific subnets.
Utilize tools to analyze and identify End of Life software and hardware equipment in the Data Centers and formulate cost-effective solutions maximizing the use of industry standards and protocols, COTS network appliances and/or open-source software applications to recapitalize enterprise networks.
Work with stakeholders to define constraints, develop requirements, create system requirement documents, and concept of operations documentation. Provide engineer-based feedback to ensure requirements are fully understood.
Analyze requirements as well as evaluate problems of workflow and organization to plan and develop appropriate corrective action.
Produce network device scripts based on partner requirements. Validate scripts for new configurations or unique requirements.
Conduct integration and testing of network hardware and software.
Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation.
Provide implementation support as necessary to include providing on-site support to load scripts and verify the network is operating as expected and satisfactory for the customer.
Provide fourth tier support, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving network issues to include trouble resolution for features not operating as advertised. Identify the complex issues and when necessary involve vendor to resolve the unexplainable.
Follow all customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies.
Active TS SCI with Poly Required
BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and four (4) to seven (7) years of progressive experience
Ten years of technical network related experience is required.
Required Certifications: CCIE, CCNP, and/or JNCIS/P
Demonstrated experience with developing design solutions (physical and logical) that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines, writing system requirements and relevant network documentation, and working with customers to determine network requirements.
Demonstrated (intermediate level) hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network services, equipment and devices, such as Switches, Routers, Servers, Cables, Racks, and Firewalls.
Thorough understanding of the OSI 7 layer network communications model and core technologies, concepts, protocols, and applications such as: LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, SFTP, SSH, SNMP, VPNs, Ethernet, Frame Relay, Latency, MTU, QoS.
A working knowledge of STP, VTP and Virtual LAN’s and Trunking (VLAN’s); Network Security (ACL’s, IPSec Tunnels); SONET, ATM, MPLS, POS, Multicast and how to properly implement these technologies.
Demonstrated knowledge of Routing and Switching systems (Cisco or Juniper); understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP).
In-depth understanding of Nexus equipment features, Virtual Port Channels (VPC), bonding server NICs and Virtual Device Context (VDC), one physical device supporting multiple networks.
Demonstrated knowledge of common operating systems: Windows, Cisco IOS, UNIX, Linux.
Demonstrated knowledge of Information Assurance concepts, including both government and commercial encryption techniques (e.g. AES/DES), especially IPSec protocols such as IKE and ISAKMP.
Experience applying rigorous System Engineering practice to requirement flow-down and Verification & Validation (V&V).
Demonstrated experience with written communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience taking initiative and working with little or no supervision.
Required Certifications: CCIE, CCNP, and/or JNCIS/P
Fifteen years of experience related to designing, installing, and troubleshooting networks.
Relevant industry certifications or Network Specialist training highly desirable, such as: MCSE, CCNA (Data Center), CCNP (Data Center), CCIE, CNE, JCIE, ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000.
Experience with government networks and secure communications desirable.
Experience with Peer Review and/or briefing the Network Engineering Review Board.
Experience with network performance optimization.
Demonstrated knowledge of Python language.
Knowledge of Type 1 cryptographic equipment from both an engineering and policy perspective.
Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Self-starter and work well in a high performance team environment.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, constantly changing environment.
Physical Requirements: Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
Work Environment: General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Equipment & Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment
Attendance: Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur
