Jacobs is seeking a Network Engineer Expert with an active TS/SCI Poly Clearance. This position is located in Reston, VA. Offer will be contingent. Responsibilities will include:

  • Possess advanced understanding and networking systems and TCP/IP to include experience in IP Addressing and Subnetting, Network Address Translation, MTU, QoS, SNMP.

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of routing and switching systems and an understanding of routing protocols, as wel las gateway redundancy protocols, to include experience troubleshooting issues with these protocols.

  • Perform advanced level configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of IP network infrastructure.

  • Support the full engineering life cycle to include working with the sponsor to determine network requirements, writing system requirement documents, and developing solutions that are in compliance with the best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines, implementing and testing the solution to ensure compliance with sponsor requirements.

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Polygraph

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and four (4) to seven (7) years of progressive experience. Similar working level obtained through relevant job experience may be accepted in lieu of degree level education.

  • Strong knowledge of VoIP, Multicast, STP, VTP, and Virtual LAN’s and Trunking (VLAN’s); Network Security, SONET, MPLS, and POS and how to properly implement these technologies

  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JUNOS

  • Ability to write script language (Perl, Shell, PowerShell)

  • Network Automation Experience: (i.e, Ansible, Python, Linux, Powershell)

  • Experience in areas of network management (such as):

  • Fault management:NNMI9

  • Performance management: VitalSuite

  • Security Management: StealthWatch and Riverbed

  • Access Mangement: ACS

  • Encryption Management: GEMX, CHM

  • Change Management: BBNA & CIscoWorks

  • Enclave Management: Cisco ASA 550

  • Desired experience with HP OpenView, OpNet, OPSware and IP routing/switching

  • Knowledge and capability in all primary network elements, such as operation systems, platforms and or protocols

  • Preferred Certifications: CCNP, CCVP, CCSP, CCIP, CCDP, JNCIS or 4-10 years of experience in IP network technology.

Essential Job Functions

Physical Requirements:Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment: General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance: Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
