Jacobs is currently seeking a NOC Technician Tier 2 to join their team at their customer site in the Reston, VA area. This position will require shift work.

The network operations center (NOC) technician provides surveillance and IP network operations troubleshooting. They identify, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents in multiple and complex local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), customer networks, Intranet and Internet and other data communication systems. This position acts as information distributors and customer representatives. They operate, maintain, and manage telecommunications facilities. Provide project management and systems integration for voice and data communication systems; supervise installation of these systems; and, provide maintenance and support to customers after installation. Specializations include data communications, TCP-IP networks, Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), COMSEC/TEMPEST, facsimile, cable-to-modem communication, RF (including satellite) communication capabilities, and repair to least replaceable

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provides daily reports on critical systems and high mission impact items.

  • Prepares documentation for the customer

  • Assist with training new candidates interviews on a periodic basis

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others

  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation

  • Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements

  • Must be willing to travel as needed (Valid driver’s license required)

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Poly Required

  • Typically requires an Associate degree in a computer field and eight (8) years of related experience. Progressive and relevant education, training and/or certification(s) may be substituted for a portion of the degree and experience requirements

  • Seven (7) years ofexperience and a thorough understanding of the following technology areas: IP Routing, Project Scheduling and Execution, Incident & Resolution Management, Network Operations, Network Security and Network Management

  • Must be able to maintain regular, reliable attendance and ensure on time daily arrival

  • Be able to troubleshoot and resolve network issues and ensure the network is available & reliable

  • Extensive knowledge on a variety of telecommunications platforms and IT systems

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

  • ProfessionalLicense or Specialized Training Networking in CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, and/or other IT Technology are preferred

  • Professional Certification in ITIL Foundations is preferred

  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)Professional License or Specialized Training in CCNA and ITIL Foundations is preferredProficiency in the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers. Employees may be exposed to potential health hazards.

Physical Requirements: Most work will be done at a desk or computer. Use of ladders may be required with the use of required safety equipment Employees may experience extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending, crouching, and lifting light to very heavy objects and equipment. Duties include being able to single-handedly deploy systems weighing up to 60 pounds

Equipment and Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance: Critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40 hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
