Jacobs is currently seeking Certified Tempest Professional Lab Technician for contingent offer only at our Springfield, VA location. Duties will include:

  • Lab technician will configure test equipmentand perform tempest testing.

  • Participate technical discussions and meetingsas the Tempest Subject Matter Expert (SME).

  • Provide input concerning future requirements(market surveys, formal requirements, etc.)

  • Support training and/or familiarization ofsignal capture and identification, develop demonstrations

  • Maintain familiaritywith current TEMPEST requirements and how various vendors are meeting them.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with POLY level security clearance once hired.

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and eleven (11) to fourteen (14) years of progressive and relevant experience. Or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system discipline and seven (7) years of progressive experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience working with RF (radio frequency) systems and test equipment.

  • Knowledge of information and communications theory.

  • Understanding of signal propagation and antenna theory.

  • Understanding of electronic circuit design and grounding techniques.

  • Experience using electronic test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

  • Adept at utilizing RF and communications test equipment such as Spectrum analyzers, Oscilloscopes, RF and microwave receivers, Video raster devices, Band pass and amplifier devices, and power line analyzers.

  • Capable of following established procedures and methods for documenting test results.

  • Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing

  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)

  • Experience in scheduling and managing workflow

  • Willing to collaborate with USG community on procedural techniques and methodology.

  • Not anticipated, but must be willing to travel occasionally if needed.

  • Must be willing to work toward and seek Tempest Tester Certification (CTP 1 or 2)

Essential Functions:

Physical Requirements:

Most work will be done at a desk, computer or in lab.

Work Environment:

General Office environment or lab. The work environment is steady pace but requires deadlines. The nature of the work requires teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone; Lab equipment to include: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency generators and receivers, and other miscellaneous testing equipment.

Attendance:

Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. Some overtime may be occasionally required.

Customer and Personal Service:

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Other Essential Functions/Characteristics:

An Information Technology Generalist proficient in many facets of information technology requirements. The candidate should possess general business knowledge and soft-skills allowing them to be adaptable in a wide array of work environments. The candidate should have the willingness to participate in these type of activities when called upon to do so.

Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements.
