Jacobs Traffic Engineering Intern – Summer 2025 in Reston, Virginia

The engineering Intern experience at Jacobs will provide engineering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in innovative solutions. Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides students invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment. A minimum of three work terms are required.

The candidate would be exposed to tasks specific to engineering and planning.

Typical work tasks include:

  • Observe and collect field traffic data such as counts, signal timings etc.

  • Analyze traffic data, summarize using charts and tables, and prepare briefings and reports.

  • Perform engineering studies using software such as Synchro and VISSIM and other analysis tools

  • Assemble data and conduct analysis using GIS.

  • Support mid-level and senior staff members as needed.

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in at least their sophomore year working towards a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • At least a 3.0 GPA is required.

  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Valid driver’s license
