Position Summary

Purchases materials or other goods and or coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. Accomplishes results through lower-level experienced exempt employees. Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards; viewed as expert within the corporation. Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity scope that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. Work performed under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives. Prime consultant to management and internal and external spokesperson for organization on highly significant, major matters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Significantexperience dealing with closed shop contractors in the construction project environment.

  • Must be aself-starter to work in a Construction Project Site Environment with muchexperience dealing with closed shop subcontractors.

  • Ability tocreate a Subcontracting Plan and Manage Pre-qualification of potential Bidders.

  • Ability to createRequest for Proposals for Subcontractors to perform Civil / Structural /Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, and other subcontracts asrequired.

  • Ability tonegotiate initial Subcontract and post Award Subcontract Changes through theadministration of the subcontract as they arise.

  • Experience inworking in a Job Site Environment with all levels of Contraction ManagementStaff

  • Developsadvanced concepts, techniques, and standards; viewed as consultant within theproject.

  • Developssolutions to problems of unusual complexity and scope that require a highdegree of innovation and ingenuity.

  • Work performedunder senior construction management’s direction toward construction projectgoals and objectives.

  • ProjectSubcontract consultant to construction management for project organization onhighly significant subcontract matters.

  • Will reside atconstruction site in Rhode Island duration of approximately one year.



  • Participates inand/or conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contractadministration and customer contact activities

  • Provides forproper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with companypolicies, legal requirements, and customer specifications

  • Examines estimatesof material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements,and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Prepares bids,processes specifications, progress, and other reports, advises management andproject personnel of contractual rights and obligations

  • Implementscontract modifications, data management and coordination with subcontractors

  • Reviewssubcontractor bids for conformity to contract requirements

  • Accomplished inWord / Excel Pivot Tables a must.

  • Experience inProlog Converge a plus

  • Musthave current knowledge of the New England/Rhode Island contracting community

  • Musthave significant experience dealing with closed shop contractors in theconstruction project environment.
