Senior Piping Designer

Responsible for technical direction of piping design work and project administration of piping engineering tasks. Assigns and schedules work and is responsible for the progress and quality of deliverables of a team of piping designers and engineers, generally assigned to a single client program This position does not have administrative duties in regards to hiring or salary, but does include doing performance evaluations on piping team members.
Perform initial project planning in regards to project scope, design basis, DVP, effort hour budget, staffing requirements, deliverables and execution procedure.
Knowledgeable of J-STEPS, ECR Procedures, and local office and department work instructions. Also, will be responsible to ensure that local client procedures are considered when planning activities.
Develop and/or participate in Plot Plan and Equipment Arrangement activities.
Establish design areas and assign piping team personnel to specific responsibilities.
Establish and trend estimate quantities.
Participate in all design reviews.
Monitor the progress for all piping design activities in regards to budget, schedule, and staffing and report results to Project Management and Department Management.
Ensure the deliverable verification process, and that all deliverables are issued according to schedule.
Participate in weekly project discipline team meetings, and conduct weekly piping design team meetings.
Ensure all piping design team members are working according to Jacobs safety guidelines, and that all have successfully completed project specific safety training.
Possess strong working knowledge of SmartPlant Review, NavisWorks, and Microsoft Office Suite
Responsible for project piping change management and applicable documentation preparation.
Normally requiring a minimum of 12 years experience and a High School or Associate Graduate, or a BS degree reducing this requirement to 10 year’s experience.
Minimum of 8 years' as a Lead Designer required
MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
2 years 3D model design review software experience required
Effective oral and written communication skills required
