This position will be initially established at Ridgecrest, California in support of Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake and in direct support of earthquake recovery work through approximately 2023. The work location can thereafter be flexibly located in the general southern CA area and is expected to thereafter support similar project assignments as various locations, predominantly in the U.S. West, but potentially throughout the United States.
The position requires the selected candidate to support the Program Manager and coordinate with NAVFAC SW Design Branch as well as lead the Jacobs multi-disciplinary design team to facilitate Post Award Design Support (PADS) and Post Construction Award Support (PCAS) for the 31 projects currently in various stages of execution.
Reporting to the Architecture Group Lead in Irvine, CA, the Lead Architect position requires responsibility for design integrity and construction administration. The Candidate will lead a team of Architects and Engineers and take ownership of the project design oversite. Individuals in this position must demonstrate leadership and technical expertise.
Project building types include operational, administrative and training facilities, maintenance and industrial facilities, Research, Development, Testing & Evaluation facilities, ammunition, fuels, and general storage facilities, and mission critical facilities, among others.
Work in a fast-paced environment and work under tight deadlines, while maintaining high quality standards
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams through a focused design review and concept verification process.
Lead client-focused multi-disciplinary design review / workshops
Prepare inspection and design reports and presentation materials
Performs all facet of construction administration and field investigation including progress verification, quality observation, and punch.
Support Design Principal, Project Manager, and/or Discipline Director in the on-going determination of project requirements, manpower requirements, and project budgets.
Participate in internal and external meetings and document discussions
Represents Jacobs, with internal and external personnel, on significant matters
Gather information, interview stakeholders, makes studies, performs calculations, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches as required
Here’s What You’ll Need:
BA degree in Architecture.
7+ years' Architectural design or contract administration experience
Registered Architect. (RA).
Experience in industrial building types.
Working knowledge of architectural building systems.
Working knowledge of sustainability, resiliency, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
Self-motivated personality with the ability to work collaboratively and independently as appropriate in studio environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel program
Detailed understanding of IBC and ABA Accessibility Codes
U.S. Citizenship is preferred
Prior experience working on Federal/Department of Defense projects
Experience in the following building types is preferred: Hangar, Control Tower, Energetics, Manufacturing, Laboratory, Optics.
Proficiency in graphic software such as Bluebeam, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Proficiency in REVIT.
