Jacobs Mechanic II - Woodland, CA in Sacramento, California

As a Mechanic II in Woodland, CA, you will perform and/or assist with organization of the operation, repair, maintenance, and instrumentation & controls of the water treatment facility. Performs and/or assists with the preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment associated with the water treatment facility and related equipment. The Woodland Davis Regional Water Treatment Facility serves the City of Woodland, City of Davis, and University of California Davis. The treatment facility is a 30 MGD sand ballasted clarification conventional process.

The Mechanic II reads, interprets, and works from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, manufacturer manuals and technical illustrations. Performs skilled repair work, on a water treatment facilities equipment and instruments. Inspects, repairs, and maintains electrical and mechanical operating and control systems, equipment, and fixtures. Inspects, maintains and repairs wiring and lighting systems, electrical control equipment, meters, outlets, and panels. Installs new equipment, interprets oral and written instructions, specifications, wiring diagrams, and codes. Establishes and maintains scheduled electrical maintenance program for the plant's equipment. May repair electrical and electronic instruments. Exercises independent judgment in solving normal work problems under general supervision of the Lead Mechanic, Maintenance Supervisor or Project Manager. Keeps electrical maintenance records, prepares labor and material estimates. Understands the mathematics of electricity and machines. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during work. Performs other duties as required. Safe work practices.

• Five years of experience in the maintenance of water/wastewater treatment plants and related equipment, or similar maintenance experience

• Proficiency in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

• A valid driver’s license with no major infractions

• Proficiency in safely using hand and power tools.

• Proficiency in mechanical schematics and one-line diagrams

• Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic flow-controlled systems

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Forklift and / or heavy equipment experience.

• Experience in serving municipal utility client.

• Safe work practices

• ADEQ Certifications

• Experience in electrical diagnostic testing and safety programs.

• Experience working at a drinking water or wastewater treatment facility

• Possess a Maintenance & Reliability Technician certification or like certification. The ability to obtain a like cert within 24 months, if not already possessed.

Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
