We’re looking for Geologist to continue their career at Jacobs - where we’ll empower you to learn and grow in the delivery of environmental site characterization and remediation projects for government and global private-sector clients to make our world better.
Based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, you’ll participate in a variety of field and office tasks related to planning and implementing environmental investigation and remediation projects. You will work with other geologists, scientists, engineers, subject matter experts, and project managers on exciting projects in which you will learn from others and pass along your knowledge. Responsibilities may include performing, or overseeing soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and surface water investigations, building teams of colleagues and subcontractors, coordinating and managing fieldwork logistics, data analysis and interpretation, technical report writing, and participating in meetings with clients and regulators. Safety will be your priority, as you contribute to operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance in everything you do.
Estimated time spent doing field work is approximately 50 to 75%, with some of that being out-of-town travel. Over time (approximately 3 to 5 years), fieldwork and travel will decrease with increasing office work.
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or closely related degree
Ability to travel up to 50-70% time may be required
United States Citizenship Required
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
Master’s degree in geology or other closely related degree
Certification as a Geologist in Training (GIT) with goal of attaining professional licensure, or a Professional Geologist license.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, contractors, and clients.
Strong attention to detail when conducting field work and evaluating data.
Professional on-the-job experience related to performing and leading environmental field work for site characterization and remediation projects, and an understanding of methodology and procedures.
Knowledge and experience with various media (e.g., soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water and sediment) investigations, data assessments/evaluations, and remediation technologies.
Experience working on active project sites and overseeing subcontractors.
Experience leading teams toward a common goal.
40-hr HAZWOPER certification or the ability to attain this certification.
