We are looking for a creative, highly motivated Roadway Engineer to join our Highway/Civil Group in St. Louis, Missouri. In this role you will have the opportunity to utilize your design expertise on exciting large-scale transportation projects in the region. Jacobs is partnering with MoDOT on several projects as part of the Improve I-70 program between St. Louis and Kansas City including the $400M Design-Build Project 1 just east of Columbia. Corridor features include system-to-system interchanges, rural interchanges, and interstate widening.

When you join us, you’ll collaborate with industry leaders in delivering design solutions, managing design tasks and assisting with client coordination. Project types range from large design/build infrastructure projects to traditional projects within the government and commercial sector.

In this role, you’ll gain experience working directly with our clients. You will grow professionally with the opportunity to coordinate with all complimentary disciplines (drainage, structures, traffic, public outreach, and environmental).

We’ll ask you to design and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates as well as perform roadway and civil design tasks under the supervision of the Project Manager.

You’ll have the opportunity to utilize your skillsets to create horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection layout, drainage, traffic signals and cross sections. We’ll ask you to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other agencies, participate in quality control/quality assurance activities and ensure project deadlines are met.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • Previous professional experience working on multi-discipline infrastructure projects with an emphasis on roadway design

  • Experience with highway design including horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection layout, drainage, traffic signals and cross sections

  • Previous Department of Transportation (DOT), County or Municipal experience

  • Ability to develop project work plans, fee estimates and schedules

  • Proficiency and prior experience with MicroStation and Microsoft Office

  • Previous experience in preparation of associated calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.

  • Ability to work with design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans

  • Previous experience conducting criteria research, write specifications, and assist with permitting

  • Ability to ensure Jacobs quality control practices through all phases of design and plans production

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) License

  • Experience evaluation, selection and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria within the discipline

  • Proficiency and prior experience with Geopak, InRoads and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
