Role Outline/Responsibilities:

Role -

The Project Manager supports the Owner in project management and in contract management, including in some cases the technical expertise. He/she is in charge of assessing and supporting from project and contract management point of view the F4E project officers (TPOs of TBs for example) during the evolution of the contract: tender, design, manufacture, construction and handover phases. He/she provides practical high expertise in support of the many activities under the responsibility of the Support to the Owner management team.

Responsibilities -

The Project Manager supports F4E project officers (TPOs of TBs for example) for project and contract management. He/she supports F4E technical project manager on Architect engineer and contractor day to day management, he/she :

  • Participates in the management and assessment of the quality documentation, according to the Support to the Owner procedures and scope.

  • Supports F4E in the management of the variations and general project changes with contractors, according to the Support to the Owner procedures and scope.

  • Supports F4E in the management of subcontractor acceptances forms, according to the Support to the Owner procedures and scope.

  • Participates in the management and assessment of the test and commissioning documentation provided by the Constructor, according to the Support to the Owner procedures and scope.

  • Manages the administrative / secretary aspects associated with the meetings where Contractors are not attending. He participates in the meeting, but does not manage the administrative / secretary aspects associated with the meetings where Contractors are attending.

  • Provides to the Architect Engineer and qualify the input data under all their applicable forms (IO input data, interface sheets, integration reports, PCRs, F4E management and constraints specifications).

  • Is F4E / SO representative to ensure that all Design validation processes (Basis of design, definition design and construction design) will be completed in due time, acting as Secretary when appointed in a design review. He/she manages the Chit management process and Tracking Document following Design Reviews, and participates to the elaboration of the Forward Action Plans until design approval by IO. He/she support F4E in drafting the acceptance reports. He/she participates to any relevant control group associated to his Tender Batch from tender phase to hand over.

  • Defines the Control Plan to ensure that the Architect Engineer’s work and the Contractors’ works conform to the requirements, for this he/she will be supported by the Technical Team, the Construction Team and the Quality Team

  • Comments on the design and recommends to F4E the instruction to be given to the Architect Engineer. He/she participates in the review of the Modification Files / Process Change Requests impacting his Tender Batch.

  • Monitors the overall schedule of delivery and forward planning.

  • Supports a safety culture.

  • Participates in the assessment of the constructability of the solutions proposed by the Architect Engineer and the Contractors together with the schedule and the overall project constraints.

  • Supports “as built” documentation validation process.

  • Supports the Contracts Manager for the claim management and for the letter management drafting letters when necessary.

  • Monitors the overall schedule of delivery and forward planning.

  • Escalate issue to management and client when required

Desired experience and skills:

  • More than 5 years of experience working as part of large engineering projects in technical or engineering roles with at least some demonstrated experience in project management. Previous experience on the ITER project is very desirable.
