About the opportunity

Our People & Places Line line of business has access to 35,000 professionals across the globe. Our team of engineers, designers and planners work to deliver projects in Transport Planning, Roads, Rail, Bridges, Project Management, Security Services, Building Structures & Services and Asset Management Planning.

Jacobs is looking for Land Surveyors to join one our water projects in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will work as an integrated member of the Construction Site Supervision team. We are looking for a professional who will ensure client satisfaction and help strengthen our project delivery capabilities.

The Land Surveyor is responsible for all issues and services relating surveying works on the project including:

  • Maintains logs of all works prior and after actual activities

  • Ensure closeout and final control points for reference

  • Establish primary horizontal and vertical control points including reference ties for re-establishing the points in the field

  • Record all measurements, readings and calculations neatly and accurately in field books as the work progresses.

  • Coordinate with the Contractor’s surveyor on work priorities and schedules.

  • Check all work by completing traverse closures and bench circuits.

  • Report discrepancies or technical problems to the Assistant Resident Engineer.

  • Perform joint measurements of the completed work for payment

  • Maintain equipment in proper condition and perform frequent calibration checks.

  • Ensuring all information required for checking the works is correctly extracted from the drawings and contract documents.

  • Review and approval of the contractor’s proposed setting out calculations and details.

  • Responding to all RFIs issued by the contractor within the time limits established by the Resident Engineers and Senior Highway Surveyor.

  • Keeping complete records of work executed daily.

  • Periodic checking of the principal survey points and line and level of works to ensure work is carried out according to the drawings and provisions of the contract documents.

  • Checking of as-built works for conformance and ensure as built survey of the completed works is recorded for project hand-over.

  • Assisting the planning and quantity surveyor teams with progress and measurement of the works.

  • Ensuring coordination of project interfaces with existing infrastructure and other expressways projects as well as future stakeholder projects.

About you

Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering or Surveying.

5 to 7 years relevant experience in major water projects with emphasis on field surveying and ability to keep surveying notes.

Good oral and written English language with good computer skills

Must possess the ability to utilize modern survey equipment

Ability to use CAD and/or Civil 3D would be an advantage
