Lab Systems Administrator - IRES - SAFB


Systems Administrator specializing in Linux/VMWare to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), C2BMC Labs and Warfighter (CLAW) support organization on the IRES program at Schriever AFB, CO.

The Senior systems administrator will support the complete product lifecycle associated with information technology oriented projects in support of multiple task orders and customers. Tasks include leading projects and teams, performing impact assessments, project planning activities, developing system Concept of Operations, supporting the definition and design of new and existing complex information technology systems, supporting the development of system specifications, and developing baseline engineering documentation.

Assist the Lab Manager providing personnel leadership, creating and maintaining relevant labor templates, developing Task Order budgets and Basis of Estimates, as well as performing earned value planning, forecasting and metrics analysis.

As a member of the CLAW Lab Team the systems engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership while supporting the build out and maintenance of specialized and complex integration and test laboratories. They will provide backup to the Spiral Integrator role in preparing analysis, tracking and reporting. Responsibilities also include installing system software, periodic/preventative maintenance, and performing complex troubleshooting and break fix activities.

Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the company’s system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.

Primary duty hours fall within core support hours of 0600-1800, Monday – Friday as scheduled, but must be able to work occasional night, weekend and extended hours as necessary on short notice to support customer requirements, troubleshooting, testing, and exercise support. Duties may include occasional travel.



Requirements:BS degree and 8 years general experience with 6 years directly related experience. Also requires 3 years in a leadership or management role. Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting physical and virtual Linux servers, workstations, and peripheral configurations in a VMWare virtualized environment as well as data center virtualization management. Experience creating procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance. Experience developing, modifying and maintaining Active Directory (AD) structures. Must possess or be able to obtain a CompTIA Security Certification with Continuing Education (CE) within 120 days. Must be a US citizen. Must have DoD Secret clearance and must be able to obtain and will initiate acquisition of a DoD Top Secret clearance upon selection.

Desired:Experience leading small technical teams. Experience with HP Blade platforms and Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers/workstations. Skilled with the installation and configuration of DII COE operating system wrapper. Expertise in installation and configuration of mid-sized Sun Solaris servers, disk array management, tape libraries, and associated peripherals. Experience with Virtual Connect, SAN management, and NetBackup. Familiarity with Remedy software used to resolve Incident Requests. Ability to automate tasks using Perl or TCL/Expect scripting languages. Applications support experience in a development environment, developing project objectives and reviewing project proposals and plans. Engineering Change Work Orders and the MDIOC Facility Installation Standard.
