Network Analyst - IRES - SAFB


Network Engineer to support the 24x7x365 Network Operations Team on the IRES program. Position is located at Schriever AFB, CO. Position is Shift Work (Swing/Mid or as required by OPTEMPO). Duties include, but not limited monitoring the MDA Enterprise Network using HPOV NNMi and other provided tools, responding to Remedy Incident Tickets, working with end customers to resolve network communications issues, working with DISA and DREN to report and resolve network circuit issues. Direct access to local LAN and WAN equipment to assist troubleshooting network connectivity issues (Cisco command line), layer 1 cable troubleshooting and replacement, layer 2 port activations, and other duties as assigned by functional manager.



Requirements : High School Diploma plus 12 years of general experience or an Associate’s degree and 10 years general experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years general experience. Requires 6 years relevant experience. Candidates must have completed and be enrolled in Continuing Education (CE) with a Security certification. Must be familiar with HP Openview, NetScout, networking (LAN/WAN) and basic troubleshooting network anomalies (command line access to network devices). Familiarity with Remedy Action Request System. Must have an understanding of COMSEC. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Must have the ability to work shifts. Candidate must be proficient in developing comprehensive and detailed drawings, using Microsoft Visio, to document end-to-end circuit path for maintaining both Wide-Area networks (WANs) and Local-Area networks (LANs). Candidate must have a Secret DoD security clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance. Candidate must have DoD 8570 Certification.

Desired : Cisco CCNA Certification. Must be able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and have good communication skills. Must be able to work well in a team environment, have good interpersonal skills, be a quick learner and have a positive, can-do attitude. Must be able to follow documented processes/procedures and provide feedback to update as necessary. Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Experience with Cisco routers/switches, and Network firewalls and KVM switches. Experience with TCP/IP, UDP Multicast, OSPF, and various WAN network mediums, legacy network systems such as SONET, LightWave ATM and TDM multiplexer network timing systems. Experience in supporting environments for an "operational network", to include tech-control environments, crypto maintenance, COMSEC, or systems administration. Proficient working with DISA, local and long-haul circuit vendors. Strong technical and hands-on experience in all of the following: various protocols for data transmission (RS-232, RS-530, T1, T3, ESF, D4, B8ZS, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192), OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) 7-layer model and the various facets of data transmission between any two points in a network. DSX equipment panels and associated wiring Fiber optics cabling, connectors and termination techniques, metallic cabling, connectors and termination techniques.
