Description of Duties:
The Network Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
Work in close coordination with the Network User Access Lead, project managers, and other service area representatives to coordinate team network design and implementation efforts.
Serve as a project expert and provides technical contribution to facilitate project completion in order to satisfy contractual requirements according to high-level architectural designs. He or she will review documentation to ensure engineering quality, and maintain responsibility for projects and tasks assigned to the team.
Communicate activity status through multiple venues, and provide quantitative project reports to the Network User Access Lead.
Design, configure, install, test and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of IT network and boundary protection devices and systems at MDA remote site locations.
Have recommended expertise that includes Cisco, Palo Alto, and KG-175 Taclane.
Be responsible for conducting site surveys, installing and configuring network and boundary protection solutions.
Act as a program liaison.
Assist in data collection and validation efforts at each location.
Provide Network Design support for the IT Services Team.
Develop and provide detailed designs with supporting implementation, test, and transition plans.
Be responsible for ushering proposed system changes through the Configuration Management process to successful implementation for transition to the O&M RBA teams.
Design and plan network communications systems.
Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
Conduct testing of network design.
Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Provide troubleshooting support as needed to keep the network operating at peak performance.
Position may require up to 25% travel in support of MDA remote site integration activities.
This position can be filled at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO or Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL.
This position is expected to pay $55,800 - $96,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 1 year of general experience; Associate's degree, or higher, and 0 years of general experience.
Must have at least 2 years of directly related experience Installing, configuring, and sustaining network and firewall components including switches, routers, firewalls, and cryptographic devices
Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification or higher
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
Have a Cisco CCNA Certification
Be familiar with Remedy Action Request System
Be familiar with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Have a general understanding of Perl Scripting, PHP, Java Scripting, Expect Scripting.
Be familiar with MySQL
