Technical Writer - IRES - SAFB
Technical Writer/Editor on the IRES Program at Schriever AFB, CO. Conducts quality review of documents, including editing, rewriting, and/or writing technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, operational specifications, technical support requirement documents, test reports, briefings, and related technical publications to communicate technical specifications and instructions clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences. Ensures correct grammar and formatting, and provides production support. Converts documents into specified formats using various templates, procedures, and style guides, and interfaces with the engineers and senior leadership staff to ensure technical accuracy. Works closely with the scheduling and organizational leadership to ensure that sufficient time is allotted for the process.
Requirements:Associate’s degree in English, Journalism, or technical field with 2 years of relevant experience. Strong technical command of English grammar. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Must excel at time management and customer relations. Experience designing and producing technical documentation (including briefings, test reports, white papers, and process documents) from engineering and management staff inputs. Must be a quick learner and have the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Ability to consistently produce high-quality work products with minimal supervision. Proficiency in PC applications to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other Microsoft Office Suite applications, including the ability to use Word templates, customize styles, implement custom bullets and numbering, and generate automatic tables of contents for large documents. Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Desired:Familiar with Desktop Publishing and DoD publications. Familiarity with Microsoft Visio and Adobe Acrobat. Experience developing and documenting policies and procedures. Familiarity with AP Style and ability to follow an internal company style guide. Ability to understand technical documents relating to missile defense and computer simulations. Ability to be highly innovative and provide quick-reaction responses.
