Windows/Applications Engineer - IRES - SAFB
Windows/Applications Engineer (Windows 2012/2016 Server with an emphasis on web and database technologies,) to support design, implementation, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of web applications and provide support for a variety of hardware and software platforms in an Active Directory environment utilizing MS SQL Server 2008/2014 and Internet Information Service (IIS) as well as other tools. Provide additional support as needed. Resolve software conflicts, install and configure Windows 2012/2016 application software, troubleshoot and resolve client-server and web application issues. Install/configure IIS and web applications. Apply DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for web servers and websites. Management of applications include BMDS Asset management (BAM), Forefront Identity Management FIM), AtHoc Interactive Warning System (IWS), Aspera, and other web applications as required. Coordinate efforts with other Enterprise IT Services crews to include Server Management, Boundary Protection, Enterprise Database Team, Infrastructure Services, Information Assurance, Release Control Validation Management, and vendor support personnel to resolve Incident Requests, Problems, and Change Requests (familiarity with Remedy software and the CRQ process are desirable). Manage COT, GOTS, and other developed software applications. Applications include BMDS Asset management (BAM), Forefront Identity Management FIM), AtHoc Interactive Warning System (IWS), Aspera, and other web applications as required. Interact with customers to gather requirements and ensure applications meet expectations. Other duties will be assigned as required. Primary duty hours fall within the 0700- 1700, Monday - Friday time period, but must be able to work after hours to support maintenance and to provide limited on-call support.
Requirements : High school diploma plus 4 years of general experience or an Associates degree and 2 years relevant experience. Requires 2 year experience in system administration and applications support. Experience managing web-based (Windows IIS) applications. Experience with Windows 2012 R2, Windows Servers 2016 and web servers. Experience deploying patches to Windows Operating Systems and vendor patches for applications. Capable of a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Essential qualifications include: (1) ability to quickly adapt to new situations, (2) strong commitment to a team environment, (3) willingness to learn new technologies, and (4) ability to deconflict requests/requirements, (5) able to establish, maintain and follow documented processes and procedures. Candidate must possess an active DoD SECRET security clearance. Candidate must possess a CompTIA Security CE certification or a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
Desired : Experience troubleshooting IIS web server 8.5/10 and database issues. Experience with several of the following a plus: Windows Server 2012 R2 system administration; configuring/managing web sites/applications using IIS 8.5; SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS); BMC Remedy. Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency and BMDS programs. ITIL v3 Foundations certification. A Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) is a plus. In-depth experience in O&M activities.
