Your Impact:

Jacobs is seeking a qualified Configuration Management Specialist professional to support the IT Service Management (ITSM) contract at Scott AFB, IL. Jacobs provides information technology solutions and services to a broad range of both Government and private industry, including Department of Defense, Federal Civilian agencies, healthcare, education, and small/medium business market. Our analysts, engineers, and technicians are highly trained, qualified subject matter experts, understanding each segments specialized business processes, requirements, and functions. Combined with an extensive IT background, Information Solutions Group's enhanced IT services enable our clients to analyze existing business processes, identify process improvements, evaluate associated risks, and develop operational solutions.

The Configuration Management Specialist is responsible for effectively tracking, logging, categorizing, and maintaining changes made against the accepted Client baseline(s) standards. Follow established Change and Configuration management processes to create baseline images for each hardware platform implemented. Record and store copies of all created images and update stored copies of all images with approved application software, application patches, and registry changes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create, edit, maintain, and coordinate office information system baseline images for USTRANSCOM (both unclassified and classified) to include, but not be limited to, end user devices, servers, and network infrastructure

  • Follow established change and configuration management processes to create baseline images for each hardware platform implemented within fourteen (14) business days after hardware receipt Coordinate an image security scan; coordinate image functionality test

  • Record and store copies of all created images and update stored copies of all images with approved application software, application patches, and registry changes

  • Create, manage, close BMC Remedy Change and Work Order tickets as well as manage the Configuration Management queue

  • Must demonstrate the ability to update the CMDB

  • Search for tickets within the Remedy tool using the different search functions, different criteria and determine where tasks are assigned

  • Pull reports from BMC Remedy and the CMDB as required

  • Understand what the various functions are of the multiple J6 work centers and be able to coordinate Configuration efforts between them

  • Must be able to create training aids and documentation as well as be able to train others

  • Must understand differences between incident, request for service and changes

  • Will support Client meetings and be able to support Agile Spring activities

  • Participate in Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) when required

Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelors degree with 2 years of experience or a total of 5 years of related experience.

The minimum of a Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.

Work Environment

Inside office/cubicle environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).

Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.

Attendance

Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%). Must be able to support 24 hour Weekend/Holiday On-Call Operations and respond onsite within two (2) hours of notification. Requires the ability to provide on-call/after hours support for web-based applications and services.

Other Essential Functions

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. An IAT Level II certification is required. The minimum of a Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required.
